Sustainability Promise…
As a long established company, situated at the heart of the agri-food sector in Ireland, sustainability has always been a core business principle for Slaney Foods and our business has evolved over the years based on sustainable structures, technologies and practices. Sustainability is embedded within our culture and our entire team ensures that we are continuously making progress and pushing beyond our goals. We continuously aim to improve our operations in order to reduce our natural resource use and emissions and to embrace best practices in animal welfare and interaction with our local environment.
Slaney Foods sustainability measures are aligned to our corporate sustainability philosophy which is based on successful agriculture through harmonious interaction between its essential components, process, people, customers and society.
“Slaney Foods is committed to conducting its activities with due care and regard for the environment and to continuous improvement to achieve a high standard of environmental performance across all areas of our business. We are committed to conducting our business in ways that protect and preserve the environment and integration of sustainable development into our business decisions and operations.” Rory Fanning, Managing Director.
This is enhanced through:
- Regulatory compliance through our IE License P0047-03.
- Participation in the Bord Bia Origin Green Sustainability Programme and achieving Gold Membership in 2020 for our exemplary performance in our target areas.
- The implementation of our Environmental Management System certified to International Standard ISO 14001.
- Certification to International Standard ISO 50001 Energy Management System for having implemented, established and maintained a continuous standard of energy management and reduction.
- European Water Stewardship (EWS) Gold Certification, an international award which follows after a rigorous process to ensure that the company meets international criteria relating to management of water, both in the factory and outside the boundaries of the site.
- Our commitment to REPAK Plastic Pledge with the aim of making a significant contribution towards meeting Ireland’s packaging recycling targets.
Sustainability is important to us because it is the right thing to do and it is also extremely important to our customers.
“The Slaney Team and farmer suppliers think of the future generations and minding the Earth as we continually improve the sustainability credentials of Irish beef: top quality, healthy and enjoyable food.” Rory Fanning, MD
